March 9-12th, 2005 Carole Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation (continued)
After my show the actual ceremonies began. I sang my song “Somebody’s Somebody”. It was truly an honor. I felt so blessed to be asked to share this special song.
Then Shelly Streeter, office assistant at the foundation, sang “Regina’s Prayer”. She did a beautiful job. Shelly sings “Regina’s Prayer” every year at the vigil. It was written by Carol Sund's youngest daughter, Regina, while her mother was missing. I cry every time I hear it. Very, very touching.
Then Carole and Francis Carrington, founders of the Foundation, spoke. I met them at the reception the night before and visited with them again at the Vigil. It was so wonderful meeting them. They are the most caring people I have ever met.
Then we had the great privilege
of having Nancy
Grace as the
keynote speaker. Nancy hosts
Court TV’s
popular “Closing
Arguments” series
as well as Nancy Grace on CNN’s Headline News. Nancy is a
victim
of violent crime herself. Shortly before their wedding, her fiancé
Keith Griffin
was a victim of a random murder. It was a very touching message that Nancy gave,
and I hope and pray I never have to feel the pain first hand myself.
The ceremonies ended with the song “The Way Back Home”. Each year the foundation has a different group of kids sing this song. This year it was the “Ovation Chorus”.
This was truly a remarkable weekend, full of emotion. It is a weekend I will never forget.
All my thanks and love to the people of The Carole Sund/Carrington Foundation. May God Bless each and everyone of you.
