March 9-12th, 2005 Carole Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation
I flew out to Modesto California to sing at the Seventh Annual Vigil of Hope for The Carole Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation. What an honor! I was asked by the Foundation to share in the Memorial because of the song on my CD “Somebody’s Somebody”. This song urges people to be sensitive to the fact that anyone can lose someone they love. That everyone belongs to Somebody. And without mentioning her name, one of the verses refers to the once missing Laci Peterson.
The Vigil of Hope is sponsored by the Carole Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation. Francis and Carole Carrington established the organization after their daughter and granddaughter, Carole and Juli Sund, and their friend, Silvina Pelosso, were abducted and murdered in Yosemite National Park in 1999. The foundation provides reward money to families without the financial resources to post rewards in order to enable them to offer substantial rewards for locating their missing loved ones and bringing violent criminals to justice.
When I checked into my room at the beautiful Double Tree Hotel in downtown Modesto, California, I had a card from the Foundation signed by the entire wonderful staff. And thanks to all of you for the gift. I will wear this shirt proudly in support of the foundation and the help they give to crime victims and their families.
Thursday morning,
March 10th, before the Saturday’s Vigil, I went with
Kim Petersen,
Executive Director of the foundation, to KAT Country 103 radio in Modesto, CA
where I met DJ
Walker. DJ did a
great interview with Kim about the upcoming Vigil of Hope and with me concerning
my song
“Somebody’s Somebody”.
Thanks so much DJ for playing my song on the air and for the wonderful support
you and KAT
Country
give to The Carole Sund/Carrington Foundation.
After we visited the radio station, we went to the Foundation’s office building. Reality really hit hard when I saw the wall of pictures of homicide victims and the wall of missing persons. The people at the foundation do an incredible job of raising public awareness and reward money for missing persons and homicide victims.
My thanks and appreciation to the wonderful ladies at the Foundation.
