I opened for
John Berry
in
Leesburg,
Georgia for the
Lee County Dugout Club
benefit. The benefit raised funds to send the ball team to the State Tournament.
Leesburg is only 7 miles from Albany, Georgia where my mom grew up. Years ago,
my grandmother actually worked in a factory in Leesburg. I thought that was so
cool. I had the best time here. The people made me feel so welcome. During my
part of the show the
power
was knocked out by thunderstorms for a few minutes. I talked with the crowd a
while and then sang a capella the
Whitney
Houston’s
rendition of “Jesus Loves Me”. I absolutely love singing that song and the
people were so responsive. I am really looking forward to returning to southern
Georgia
some day.

I flew into Nashville, TN today. My label picked me up and we went to meet with John Berry and his band. We had a few things to discuss before we headed out to Waldron, Indiana. We leave tomorrow morning. This is really exciting! We’re taking a bus and it’s really like I’m going on tour. Well, I guess I AM really going on tour. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather go with. John and his band are such wonderful Christian people. I really feel at home with them. We’re doing a benefit show to help raise money for a sound system at the Waldron High School. I love doing shows where I feel like I’m helping people. I can’t wait. To my surprise when I got to Nashville, I saw that my label had a brand new racing style sleeper trailer for my tour with John. Really cool!!

Well this morning we headed out to Waldron, Indiana. We set up for rehearsal and the show tomorrow.

I had an afternoon rehearsal today for the show tonight. It went great! John Berry’s band, audio engineer and production manager are really amazing. I felt so relaxed and had so much fun just rehearsing..
At
8:00 that evening, I went on stage in
Waldron, Indiana at the
Waldron High School. It was
wonderful! I love performing SO much! And of course,
John Berry
was absolutely
outstanding.
After the show we drove half way to our next destination, Taylorville, Illinois.

Well, we
woke up this morning and finished our drive to Taylorville, Illinois. I was
happy to see how nice the establishment was. It is called
“Nashville North”.
It had a great stage and theatre seating. We had another short rehearsal, and
then everyone split to get ready. I can’t express how much I LOVE being on the
stage. And it seems like the more the band and I play together it just gets
better and better, even when I think, how could it get better. I was really
excited to see my very good friends
Bill
and
Betty McGary
at the show. I love it when they come! Once again everything went great and
John
was absolutely captivating. There was a little girl named
Karsyn
there. It was her very first concert ever. During the intermission, she came and
saw me at my booth. She was so excited to be there. We went back into the
theatre to watch John, and that little girl walked
right up to the front of the stage. Well John, being the great guy he is,
stopped his show and walked right down the front steps of the stage to talk to
her. She was on cloud nine! Karsyn had a request for John. Her favorite song is
“Twinkle, Twinkle Little
Star”.
And John sang it right to her. I’ll bet she will never forget that night.

It’s Mother’s Day today. It’s hard being away from my mom. So I called her first thing this morning to tell her Happy Mother’s Day. I talk to her everyday at least three times. And I always love to call her for a prayer over the phone before I go on stage. It’s our little tradition.
We drove back to my label’s house, Coy and Dana Ray, for a couple days of relaxation, and then Tuesday I’m flying home. Time to Hit the Lake!!!!!
